DESIGNERS REMIX SS’15
They say “If you want to be happy for the rest of your life, plant a garden.” Seems that Designers Remix agreess upon this philosophy and this season presents one of the best collections seen by me at Copenhagen Fashion Week. The collection is entitled ’Concrete Garden’ and it takes it’s fundamental inspiration from the phenomenon ’Urban Gardening’; the beautiful man-made garden on top of minimalistic concrete skyscrapers.
The phenomenon Urban Gardening is evident in choice of organic fabrics such as linen, raffia and cotton controlled by neoprene, which turns out as double – faced fabrics that adds a third dimensional and sculptural expression. Combined with 90’ies components as the spaghetti strap, dungarees, ruffles, of f – shoulder, one – shoulder and cropped tops, the collection is dedicated to the futuristic self – sufficient woman who aims to dress effortlessly sleek.
The base of the calm colour scale is the white, black and especially the concrete grey seems dominant. Hyper pastels as bright yellow, peach and lavender arises from the idea of manmade greens that will look exactly how the future farmer wants. The hyper pastels are placed on the more feminine styles as the top-printed pleated skirt, the tailored pieces and the sustainable ruffle silk top and dress.
Charlotte Eskildsen, the head designer of the Designers Remix is known for her conceptualist approach towards fashion shows, her chosen venues are always unexpected, different and unique. This time it was not differently, the show took place outside the urban and modern Swed bank building, which perfectly suited for a warm summer evening filled with minimalistic, naturistic as well as industrial fantasies by Designers Remix.
